Incorporate into the City of Ramona, Now!

This group of community volunteers is dedicated to incorporating Ramona. We believe that unless the citizens of Ramona unite to incorporate, the County of San Diego will determine the future for Ramona without the consent of those governed. The County of San Diego approves our contracts for our law enforcement, fire and paramedic services, and has influence on the improvement of our roads. That revenue should be coming directly to Ramona. They also have control of the zoning and permitted land use issues (GP2020). It is our belief that the citizens of Ramona know better what is good for our town, and invite you to please share your views here. In 1987 the Ramona Planning Group created a general plan for the town. GP2020 does not resemble that plan. As the City of Ramona, these important issues will be decided by local Ramona citizens.

Over the last 30 years, there have been several studies into incorporation. Look for the text of these studies on this site soon. All of these stopped short of hiring a consultant that specializes in the incorporation of towns in California. We were referred to such a firm by the city managers we have interviewed. Rosenow Spevacek Group are well respected by the California League of Cities having incorporated over 30 cities in the last 15 years. The initial study has been completed and looks promising. The next step is the application to LAFCO. They will charge approximately $61,000 for their study. Rosenow Spevacek Group has anticipated some of the budgeting requirements LAFCO will respond with in their initial study. The actual revenue figures from all sources have yet to be uncovered. From this study, we believe we CAN afford to incorporate and provide the same or better level of services without raising taxes. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
